Challenges: Design process through the use of bottom-up approach and computational aim systems.

Hotel spaces don’t need to be monotonous and exclusive to their users. Located next to the Highland, NY, our site presented an opportunity to create a moment of repose within a neighborhood known for its rich and exciting ambiance. Surrounded by multiple galleries, shops, and restaurants our proposal addresses the pedestrian traffic and directs it toward the public programs of the hotel. Incorporating the concept of participatory design, the project shifts the narrative of a fast-paced city by providing entrances to a main courtyard that works as a center of calmness and lightness in the area. At the same time, this center is surrounded by several enriched and differentiated areas that guests can enjoy throughout their stay. With this approach in mind, Le Milieu Hotel aims to be a hotel that is aware of its surroundings and appreciative of the diversity that walks through its doors.
